SRV holds 100th general assembly in Egypt

The Swiss Travel Association (SRV) will hold its 100th general assembly in Egypt. This year’s gathering is scheduled for October 27 to 30, 2026, in El Gouna on the Red Sea. Originally, the event was set to take place in Salalah, Oman, but the location was changed.

Internal Changes and Membership Rules

A meeting of the association’s executive board precedes the general assembly. At this session, the agenda will include the topic of elections, which involves member exits and personnel changes.

A specific proposal by Wohlfarth will also be discussed. If the proposal is approved, it places the organization in a position where it must act to enforce the supply of services to businesses according to Article 6.1.3 of the statutes. While the ombudsman and the head of the guarantee fund view the proposal positively, they cannot influence the final outcome of the vote.

The executive board might consider amending the statutes if the proposal gains majority support. They could propose a revision of Article 6.1.3 as a separate agenda item for a vote. Membership proposals require a six-week submission period, while the board can propose changes at any time. All agenda items must be announced ten days before the general assembly begins.

The 100th Anniversary and a Return Home

For the centenary of the SRV, the group plans to return to Switzerland. The board has apparently settled on this decision after discussions about the location had been ongoing for some time.

Should the SRV decide to host the event at the federal parliament building, they would need to secure a special arrangement because the building is not generally available for rent. While the visit is free, the logistics of holding the general assembly in the National Council chamber would present a significant challenge for the political team and leadership. The parliament building is available in September and December 2027, which would align with the organization’s October and November timeline.

A stay at the Kursaal Hotel Swissôtel offers a viable option for accommodation. The hotel has experience hosting major events, notably the Globetrotter Group’s 50th anniversary. Management there is expected to provide a favorable rate and may sponsor a gala dinner.
