Preparing To Go To the Airport

Whether you are traveling for business or going on vacation, the quickest way to your destination is by taking a flight. With the multiple precautions in place today, there are several steps you need to follow to ensure a safe and efficient departure. Here are a few tips to help you.

Make Reservations

Contact Denver Airport Transportation to schedule a ride to the airport. Print off your boarding pass on your home computer or arrive early to have it produced there. Look up what bags you can take for free and the costs you will be charged for your other luggage. You will also want to verify what items you can take on the plane with you and what needs to be put in your checked bags. Consult the TSA website to find this information. Set aside your identification card to ensure it is ready to present to the security officers when you check in. Also, keep cash handy so you can buy what you need when you need it.

Check In With the Airline

Once you arrive at the airport, head to the desk for the airline you have chosen to fly with. This is where you will leave the bags that are to travel in the cargo area of the airplane. Verify that you have what you need before you turn them over to the clerks that are helping you. You can check in with them. Many companies also allow you to check in for your flight at home on their website or app or they offer kiosks where you can enter your information and receive your boarding passes instead of waiting for someone to help you with it. When you have the appropriate paperwork and your bags are turned over to be loaded on the aircraft, you can go to security.

Passing Through Security

Give your identification card and ticket to the agent at the security gate when you arrive. You will need to take off your shoes and put your bags, electronic devices, wallet, watch, belt and any item that has metal on it in the bucket for it to be examined. If you have your laptop computer with you, it will need to be removed from its case so it can go through separately. Once that is complete, step through the scanner at the agent’s direction. They may have additional questions for you. Comply with their instructions then gather your belongings to continue on to your gate.
