Delta and LATAM expand joint flight network

Delta Air Lines and LATAM Airlines have marked four years of their Joint Venture, which has increased capacity by 31% and carried 17.4 million customers between North and South America. The partnership has expanded connectivity across the two regions, with 83,000 flights operated and 20.8 million seats offered.

The agreement has also provided reciprocal benefits through the SkyMiles and LATAM Pass programs, along with additional travel experience benefits. Members of these loyalty programs can earn miles or points on flights operated by either airline, while also accessing reciprocal benefits associated with their frequent flyer status.

Expanding Network and Benefits

The joint network includes 28 routes connecting major cities across both continents, including São Paulo-Los Angeles, Bogotá-Orlando, and Rio de Janeiro-New York/JFK. The partnership has enabled the two airlines to make progress toward a more integrated experience for their customers, with benefits such as priority check-in and boarding, seat selection, and baggage-related benefits.

Eligible customers can also access an extensive network of lounges operated by both airlines, including nearly 60 Delta Sky Clubs in the United States and LATAM Lounges at airports across South America. The alliance has made progress in integrating processes and services, including digital baggage tracking systems and shared terminals at key airports.

Growth and Evolution

The Joint Venture has continued to grow and evolve, strengthening connections between North and South America. Alex Antilla, Vice President – Latin America and the Caribbean at Delta Air Lines, said, “The increase in capacity, together with the expansion of our network and the benefits available to our customers, demonstrates the value of working together to provide more options and an increasingly connected travel experience.”

Capacity growth can be seen across several markets covered by the agreement, with Brazil recording nearly 33% growth in combined capacity in 2026 compared with 2023, and Ecuador recording 64% growth over the same period. Argentina’s addition to the Joint Venture in 2025 was another milestone in its evolution, expanding the partnership’s reach into a strategic market.

Strengthening Relationship

Delta and LATAM have continued to strengthen their relationship through a separate agreement between Delta TechOps and LATAM Airlines Brasil for Airbus A320 component maintenance and repair services. The partnership leverages LATAM’s maintenance, repair and overhaul facilities in São Carlos, Brazil, while expanding Delta TechOps’ global maintenance network.

Ramiro Alfonsin, Chief Commercial Officer of LATAM Airlines Group, said, “The Joint Venture has enabled us to offer customers access to more destinations and stronger connectivity by bringing together two highly complementary networks. Customers are recognizing the value of that proposition: since the partnership launched, the share of passengers who would recommend traveling with LATAM and Delta has increased by 50%.”

As the Delta-LATAM Joint Venture continues to evolve, it is likely to have a significant impact on the travel experience for customers. With more integrated services and benefits, customers can expect a more seamless and convenient travel experience.
